Mockup van het te bouwen huis, zijaanzicht

Biedonk

The very first detached ecologically certified passive house in the Netherlands. And also the office of Seven and the home of Jan Geerts and his family. The large window area in the living room provides optimal contact with the outside, while you are sheltered from cold, wind and rain.

Feature

The ventilation plan was very carefully designed. Through overflow ventilation, in combination with the airtight building envelope, the home can be kept clean with minimal air volumes. CO2 concentrations never exceed 1000 PPM for long periods, while humidity levels are between 40 and 60% all year round. Healthy indoor air with minimal energy loss.

Building envelope

The facades (U = 0.12 W/(m2K) and roofs (U = 0.09 W/(m2K)) consist of a timber frame with wood fiber insulation in between. The outsides of both the facades and the roofs are made of Douglas fir planks with a fungi coating. This fungi protects the wood against moisture and also provides the black color. Excellent insulating Enersign windows (Ufr = 0.63 W/(m2K) in combination with vapour regulating membranes ensure the airtightness of the building (n50measured = 0.21).

Installations

The heart of the home is a Pichler compact heat pump. This unit provides ventilation, heating, very occasionally cooling and warm water. In addition, an electric oil heater is installed in the living room for heating in winter. This is only necessary on days when it is cloudy and around freezing point.
